Santa Monica College held its first targeted employment fair for students of SMC Noncredit Adult Education and the SMMUSD Adult Education Center. A big thanks to Noncredit Counselor, Cristina Gutierrez, for coordinating with some of the region's employers, including The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica, Pacific Park, Sweetgreen, One West Bank, and M.A.C cosmetics, just to name a few. Recruiters had a chance to meet with over 150 students; and conducted on-the-spot interviews and hiring.

EMERITUS CAMPUS TECH FAIR
The Santa Monica College Noncredit Team held its very first Main Campus tour for Noncredit to Credit transfer students, on Monday, July 10, 2017. Accompanied by the Noncredit Student Services staff and our Consortium Co-Chair, Dr. Dione Carter. Noncredit ESL students got to see the much of main campus' offerings, including the Library, Counseling, Career Center, Assessment Center, Bursar’s Office, the Art Department’s garden, Bookstore, Admissions, DSPS, Financial Aid, Sustainability, and Athletics. Students also had the opportunity to tour the Math Complex and ESL Building.

SMC's Noncredit Adult Education administrators and faculty held a breakout session, during which they educated their colleagues on the role of Noncredit in academic pathways, the development of Noncredit short-term vocational and workforce prep courses and certificates, and answered questions. The two breakout sessions were well attended and received.
SMC FALL 2017 FACULTY FLEX DAY
Santa Monica College administrators, faculty and staff presented at the October 6-7 conference, hosted by the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI). "SMC's Journey into the World of Noncredit Curriculum" informed conference attendees of SMC's work in establishing the Noncredit Adult Education curricula, developing Noncredit pathways, and informing the SMC academic community, of program and developments.
Emeritus offers a broad range of noncredit classes that cater to the older adult community. Classes take place at the Emeritus campus, located at 1227 2nd Street in Santa Monica, as well as at community sites located throughout the cities of Malibu and Santa Monica. We are committed to lifelong learning!
The Santa Monica Regional Consortium for Adult Education Co-Chairs, Dione Carter and Anthony Fuller, attended the Transformational Leadership Symposium on October 12-13, 2017. The event was hosted by the Adult Education Block Grant Technical Assistance Project (AEBG TAP).
The Santa Monica Regional Consortium for Adult Education hosted a special presentation of the Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) collaborative teaching model, followed by a Q&A, conducted by North Orange Community College District Co-Instructors, Tina McClurkin and Dyeneka Campa.
